Dear Parents,

Extreme WeatherThis month in our enrichment program we once again visited the topic of "Extreme Weather". Last year at this time we had over thirty inches of snow. Mother Nature was a big help in adding a spectacular visual to our lesson on winter weather.

Your children will learn about Tornadoes, Thunderstorms, Blizzards, Tsunamis, and the prettiest weather phenomenon the Rainbow. We will discuss temperatures, weather patterns; high and low pressure systems, and how water temperatures from the ocean dictate whether we will have snow or rain. I also have prepared several books that give us a lot of information to help reinforce what we are learning. "Think about the Weather" by Cynthia Rothman, "Feel the Wind" by Arthur Dorros, and "What Makes a Rainbow" by Betty Schwartz will enhance this learning experience. We will conclude the program with a musical slide show of all the weather systems and storms that we learned about. Next month we will learn about famous Americans and the role they played in History. Until next time.

Sincerely,
