Dear Park Shore Parents
I hope your vacation was enjoyable and you are all well rested. Our Park Shore children have been very busy planting, learning, charting the growth of our tadpoles, waiting anxiously for our chicks to hatch and lovingly taking care of our new chinchilla, Angel. Soon we will all have butterflies or ladybugs growing in our classrooms.
This month in our enrichment program I introduced all different kinds of bugs and animals. Some we learned are born alive and some are hatched from an egg. We learned many fun facts about these amazing animals. Did you know that the ostrich lays the largest egg on the planet? Baby parrots are called chicks and cannot leave the nest until their feathers have completely filled in. All polar bears are born in the winter and come out to swim when the spring weather thaws the water. Interestingly enough only the male bullfrogs can croak.
We met many animals that can change colors to camouflage themselves for protection. We watched a video of an octopus that looks just like a rock under the sea. We then played a game of matching baby bugs to their mothers. We were all amazed that not one baby resembled their mothers. Nature is truly astounding in all her glory.
Coming up our three year olds and four year olds will be going to Crab Meadow Beach; our toddlers will travel to our own playground and experience a Park Shore beach day. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our spring music and gym visitation, and believe it or not graduation is just weeks away. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call the office.
