BROADWAY COMES TO PARK SHORE:
Jamie Chandler-Torns has joined the Park Shore family as our new Director of Performing Arts. Jamie, along with her music and theater directors, has developed our all new Performing Arts Track Program for the summer of 2007, which will offer our senior girls and boys a more intense experience in Performing Arts.
Jamie's professional credits include the original cast of seven Broadway shows including Ragtime, The Red Shoes, A Class Act, Starlight Express, The Goodbye Girl, and Carrie. She was last seen in Sweet Smell of Success starring John Lithgow. Beyond her performance, she also served as dance captain for the show's choreographer, Christopher Wheeldon, a noted choreographer and renowned dancer with the New York City Ballet.
Jamie has performed at several of the acclaimed venues including The Metropolitan Opera House, Lincoln Center, and numerous Broadway theatres. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with accomplished composers and lyricists and has been teaching and choreographing for over 20 years. These are simply a few of her accomplishments as her list of accolades are many.
The goal of the Park Shore Performing Arts Track Program is to offer campers with a keen interest in the Performing Arts the opportunity to express themselves creatively in a fun and highly instructive atmosphere. Creative drama builds self confidence, self esteem, and vocabulary in a fun and safe environment. This exciting program will offer our senior girls and boys a more intensive theater arts program that will give them the opportunity to develop their imagination and creativity as well as benefit from skill-building exercises that will aid them in all future endeavors.
